Ugh, I hate when I do that!
Chess Blindness
You have my sympathy. On Facebook chess once, I spent almost a day going through variations on the analysis board. It was only when I'd played what I thought was a great move that I realised that my Queen was 'en pris'. I swore so loudly that one of my housemates came running to my room to see what the problem was.
My problem is often that I get so caught up with avenues that I want to go down that I overlook obvious threats, alas. You just put it down to experience and move on, it's all part of becomming a better player.
ED.
Terrible blunder,,,the only consolation you've got is that at least you castled :),king is safe,,you should move your queen to e2
All you need is a .png file of the game. and then click the little chess board icon in the "post" box on the far left.
Pretty easy to figure out from there.
....Care to give it a go?
Here is an online game I just played with a really fantastic player. I felt my position was worse and I was so concentrated on the positional threats that I was blind to the first obvious threat: MY QUEEN BEING TAKEN.
Now understand this is an "online game" not blitz, or live...and yet I still was so concentrated on the position that I made the move I should have made after I moved my queen. Horrible I know! I wanted to post this as a reminder to ask the question Jeremy Silman says to ask after every move, "What is my opponents threat?" The threat here was taking my queen. So all other plans or moves shouldn't have even been in my mind. The only question I "SHOULD" have been asking myself is, "Where do I move my queen?"
This is painful to watch.
