If you are talking about Live chess, some people think it is against the rules but as long as you are not making analysis moves on the board, you should be fine.
I'll try to find another topic I took part in that had a lot of dicussion back and forth on the issue, in case you might like to read it.
This is just of a bit of concern to me now since over the past month, i have taken chess seriously.
Always, when i used to play I used to have a real chess board set in front of me and whatever moves my opponent did online, I made them on the chessboard and then thought about them. It took a bit of extra time on my part.
So is it okay to do so?
I mean is this technique recommended or should i get over this?
Plus i tried playing without the chess board and i lost all seven games ( almost all due to very silly blunders) and my rating dropped from 1500+ to 1300's.
So should i continue playing without the board and get used to it after losing a few (perhaps dozen) more matches or should i turn back to my real chess pieces?
