Anything by Mark Dvoretsky, if you are an advanced player. He is one of the best chess trainers in the world.

Depending on your level at the moment, but my vote goes for Silman if you are a beginner to immediate level and Dvoretsky if you are already above that.

Chess for Tigers is a good book

I found Euwe's "Chess Master Vs Chess Amateur" extremely helpful. It is an in depth analysis of master games against all levels of amateur players, from absolute beginners to strong experts, with every game fully annotated, explaining the masters' ideas and the amateurs' mistakes. Also Chernev's "Logical Chess" is very good.

But if you are intending to play in tournaments Kotov's "Think Like a Grandmaster" is invaluable!
