I have a wad of cash burning a hole in my wallet for another masterpiece. Does anybody have any opinion on Jeremy Silman's How To Reassess Your Chess?? That's my next read...but what's up with it?!?!

"... Jeremy Silman's How to Reassess Your Chess is an example of a good book which explains many important ideas in clear terms. ..." - GM John Nunn (2006)

However, not everyone finds it helpful. I suggest trying to see if you can view a sample at the Siles Press site.

Are you the one who told us (about 15 hours ago) that "Books are not the solution to learning chess"?

Actually, Seirawan's Winning Strategy was my first chess book and I learnt a lot from it. Ideas are crystal clear, games well chosen and there is also a short part on great positional players from the past which is entertaining when ones is fed up with chess exercices. It's a good book for beginner/intermediate players.

Why so grumpy, did you eat thistles this morning?
