Lots of reasons why a player may fall for a trap. Sometimes they have real life stuff going on, sometimes tilt from several losses in a row. Many distractions can make someone underperform.

NO 1500 hangs a queen, always triple check threats when your opponent "HANGS" a queen

Even GMs hang mate from time to time. 1500s definitely do hang queens, and checkmate.

They hang M1 in time trouble, not with so much time on clock, and its an opening you play, so study that opening better

Everyone could use a bit more studying, but who is anyone to tell another player they're bad and have to go study? Can anyone really say that without being a hypocrite?

its like falling for a scholars mate, its not hypocritical

It is, because everyone falls for stuff now and then. It's a matter of concentration. Scholar's Mate is far more known than any other opening trap.
