Chess Books or Online Courses for Beginner Improvement?

Hi all,

I have only began playing Chess seriously for a couple of months now, and I have a rating goal (Rapid or Daily) of 1100 by mid-year and possibly 1300 by year-end. I play pretty much only online--would you recommend I get chess book/s to improve or sign up for online courses?

I have watched some free content on longer form courses on Youtube, specific-GM sites and just make (to the best of my abilities) some sensible middle-game and end-game decisions during my games.

Chess is a nice hobby to sharpen the mind and all that, but I'm also not trying to expend too much money into this. Appreciate your suggestions, thoughts.

Thank you.

I just cracked into Reassess your Chess by Jeremy Silman.

It is certainly a good read thus far, I’m roughly the strength of the average club player at the moment, but I imagine a beginner would find it useful as well. :)

It will teach you some basic endgame techniques as well as how to formulate a plan in the middle game.
