chess bot ratings
It's had to make an engine play like a certain rating when they are designed to find the best moves normally. There are settings to attempt to mimic lower rated player but it's not very accurate, especially at mid to lower ratings.
Bots up to 1500 or 1600(?) will blunder their queen. We can beat bots rated hundreds of points higher than our rating. I'm 1200 and beating my head on the 1700s. I'm not sure of the difference between an Engine and a Bot. I started to say Engines don't try to be nice. Computers have always struggled to mimic human play, and usually humans find the flaws and weaknesses. That's what we are good at. You'll find tips on how to beat the various bots all over the forums. Once you get into the higher level engines I think that is when they show no mercy. Good luck to you. Listen to your Mom, do your lessons.
