Chess generally can only be a career for top players. Some stronger players that are good teaching can make a living coaching. For the vast majority of people, there's no money in playing chess.

Chess is not a career.

Compare it to sports. Sports is played for fun, an exercise, and to learn things. Just like chess.

There is no such thing as a "basketball career" for an average person. There is no such thing.

Just as there is no lottery winner, there is no such thing (statistically speaking.)

Why chess is not a carrer ?

Dibya, focus in your studies. Chess is a waste of life. The 3months gap you get after board exams is not enough to become a master. If you still think that you want to pursue chess, you can do that in college. Still, don't leave studies for chess, it's absolutely terrible and won't feed you in the future.
