Chess cheater with negative winrate?

I recently played a rapid game against someone rated around 1650, but something felt really off. He had the white pieces and played strange moves that led to him losing instantly. I checked out his account, and what I found was suspicious.

  • The account is brand new with less than 100 games.
  • He won all of his first few games with unusually high accuracy against opponents rated between 1500 and 2000 (how does a new account even get matched with a 1500 right off the bat?).
  • After just 6 games, his rating peaked at over 2000.
  • Then, his match history turned red, he’s been losing the majority of his games since, with a win rate of just 27%. In several of his recent games, he blunders almost immediately after the opening.

I reported him for cheating. I doubt many players would report someone they beat, so I feel this might fly under the radar. Also, given his low win rate, I’m not sure if Chess.com's system will detect him as a cheater.

I’m curious about what you guys think of this.
