Chess clock or chess set?

DD, something you have to bear in mind when you ask such a question is that you are really asking people what they would do in the situation you describe, i.e. you have a set but no clock, so no way to time your blitz games. Personally, I wouldn't care to blitz with an app rather than a clock. If you're happy to use an app then maybe you don't need clock. Good luck finding a plethora of opponents who would care to play with an app, rather than a clock.

So, you obviously did not want to get a clock. Someone suggested a clock and your replies are
Why?
I can always get an app.
So, get an app and enjoy your new set. Also, if you play blitz, good luck with you phone not breaking as you and your opponent get into time trouble and you pound the phone to stop the clock.

and here is another thing.
if an APP satisfies you, why is a clock OR a board of any interest? clearly its not OTB you crave??
but the clock and board are but tools to play with other people (though you can do quite a lot of study on a board, that's true...)

if you play tournaments you need BOTH.
if you don't play with people you can get by with none of it; and save your money for a video. (which again don't require either a clock or a board)....

Crap tournaments, I hate having to bring my chess clock, cant the freaking governement stop stealing money and pay for them? GEEZ.
