The game will probably never die. Popularity is a different thing and that waxes and wanes.

I don't think it will. Nothing against your username, but I wouldn't necessarily mind seeing the time control of "bullet chess" becoming a thing of the past. I really don't think that type of play adds anything of value to the ultimate enjoyment of this beautiful "thinking" game. Perhaps a bit ironically, I feel that playing the game for sheer speed is a true waste of time. I'd much rather "spend quality time" coming up with beautiful moves, not just playing basically by rote.

I mean it actually might You know that one forum chess will never be solved... it is solved if there is a goal, and since there is only certain moves you can do in certain situations that means that your opening is the meaning of the game that is the only thing that the person chooses!

And i think with AI and all that crap that chess will be ruined!

Consider this... how--and why--do each of us enjoy the game? What does it mean to us to play the game? Sure, AI may get to the point of "always winning" against any human player--even the very best of us--but what does that even mean in human terms? Frankly, I'm not the least bit interested in what AI has to do with it. I'm certainly not going to spend any of my precious time and energy in life trying to memorize every twist and turn AI (or even great human players) have come up with just so I can "win more games". Sure, winning is a worthy goal, and it's even fun, but it's certainly not the only reason to play the game.

When I was a child, and decided I wanted to play the game (after spending time watching my father and uncle play), my father gave me a pile of books (openings, middle game, end game, etc.), and after a very short while, I decided I didn't want to read them and memorize all that. It was never my intention just to win as many tournaments as possible. It was my intention to enjoy coming up with my own moves. Every move. Even if it meant losing lots of games along the way. This offered me the widest possible opportunity to learn, to grow, to develop my own mind, and to enjoy those moments of clarity and brilliance. Even amongst the spectacular blunders. Either way, we learn and grow. And we enjoy.

Its popularity will probably ebb and flow over the years.
