Chess Clubs

For some odd reason I have really become obsessed with chess! I'm not even that great at it either...but I've been looking through books and reading all sorts of information. Something that popped into my head was "why not join a chess club?". Though I do Love chess.com, nothing beats classic, physical, in person chess playing. The only problem is that the chess clubs I've found are either 1 hour north or south of me! (I Live in Pompano Beach, FL). I'm a student and don't really want to drive that far for gas money concerns...but any ideas on what I could do?

Find a location that will allow you to pull out a board and play and maybe post something on local sites and/or a newspaper about when and where you are. You might get some locals that are looking for other players too.

Depending on where in pompano beach you live, the boca raton chess club might be an option for you; I have a friend who lives in the PB Highlands, and its only a 20 minute drive for him
