Well then your cognitive functions are broken.

Intelligent English people understand how I used the phrase "if you were... " in place of "if you are..." there, and your current tendency to take things the worst possible way doesn't sound like a good trait for a personal trainer to have.

Just because you might be great at something doesn't make you good at teaching it.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by looking after a blind guy

Well they can't very well "look after" themselves now can they?

But I've been told that their other senses are sharper as a result.

But while we are flogging our wares here would anyone like a made to order chess board, Or a speckly black and green granite one that is 400 mm square the squares are about 40 mm. It's very beautiful though. It doesn't have an wooden frame / edge put on it yet but that could be arranged.

Ummmm.... can you look after yourself when there's a power cut at night? rejig.

OK suit yourself. If you take offence easily twitch won't be a go for you.

That actually irks me, that you failed to comprehend what I was saying so utterly. How smart can you be. You asked earlier on for someone to say something positive / helpful and then I do and you take it the totally worst way. Almost the antithesis of what I was saying. Perhaps you are depressed and should go visit the methodist mission for some free counselling.

Looks like you are the one who got all worked up (for something you yourself said could be attributed to a minor difference between "if you were ..." vs "if you are ..." and even diagnosed him with a mental illness. You may want to engage in some introspection before you go off on someone again.

wollyhood, you're right, it's late... I've probably been online too long.

hard to understand sarcasm/intent over the internet.

good luck to you.

as for the looking after a blind person.. he's not actually blind actually but his eyesight is very poor. The people we (the volunteers) look after are either blind or partially sighted. you normally take them for a coffee, or a walk, they just want to talk as they are often quite lonely.

it's not a bad idea doing volunteer work as it teaches you humility, at least in a financial sense, with a lot of people now it's all about money, I admit it was for me for many years but now I've come to realize that there are more important things in life.

Still, I do have to make some money in order to survive. I was thinking about getting a job, but there aren't many around here. I actually worked in a shop about a year ago, but that didn't work out.

OK good I'm glad you can admit you might have been a bit down on my comment.

I wish you all the best too, as a mum I know it's really hard remembering to make sure you're ok sometimes.

Volunteer work is very excellent though good job.

BTW... I've definitely been online too long xD

On the positive side, if Gormally had made a topic all professional-like, with his picture, his rating, his fees, etc, then maybe he gets 1 reply in 3 days.

Doing it this way got a lot more attention.

Avatar of wollyhood

well you know, he's a bit down / weary isn't he. "worried with the cares of life."

What do they say, no such thing as bad publicity / a thread without facetious back handers.

No you are right flying sandal. it isn't for everyone.

I certainly couldn't afford to pay 50 dollars an hour.

It's lamentable that being a GM tends to not be a well-paying profession.

It's hard to encourage talented juniors to work many, many hours to become a GM.

Avatar of wollyhood

Well I  hate to break it to you but with nearly 2000 subscribers, the young chess brah twitch tv channel is making 5x1800 a month, but growing daily, so um yeh they are mostly GMs and they are getting 2-3 k every month each

Then I think lots of streamers offer coaching

Avatar of hotsprings1

Yes I thought about streaming... I had a youtube channel but my heart wasn't really in it.  Takes a long time as well to pick up any subs.

Definitely the way forward though because for example I've done video courses and they haven't sold particularly well, they've done ok but not amazing... some guy who's got say 50k subs on youtube though will automatically sell a lot more.

Why you don't use your old account ?

Avatar of hotsprings1

Hi, Rodog,

That is a good question, and chess.com have offered me to reopen it, but I will probably decline.

Unfortunately I have quite an addictive personality and when I had a full account before I couldn't stop myself from playing blitz all day, and now the new puzzle rush feature makes it even more dangerous...

Avatar of Rodog

You may ask them to reopen your account but if you play blitz games they must ban you. This a good way to stay away from blitz. There was one ICCF SIM that had send request to banned if he continue to play daily games here.
