Reasons I avoid rematches:

1. I could be finishing my chess session or have an offline task to do - a rematch shouldn't be assumed obligatory. If a rematch was destined to be then surely we'll cross paths OTB.

2. A rematch is unfavorable because the element of surprise is lost. Your opponoent now has a better grasp of your playing style, strengths and weaknesses.

3. There's no glory to be gained by adopting or farming weak players. There's more knowledge to be gained in losing to a stronger player than winning against a weaker one.

4. I don't like the psychological aspect. The first game is with a stranger, the second makes the experience feel more personal. More likely to tilt when emotional stakes are raised. Tilting deprives opponents of the chance to play against their best.

5. It's not a fair assessment without each player starting as white but I'm aiming to assess my maximum rating under ideal online conditions. Besides, the games are randomly paired, so we'll eventually pair back up anyway. Happens frequently.

You’re just proving my point even more. Only a coward gets tilted after a rematch.

And that whole “element of surprise” excuse? Just confirms you don’t trust your own skill. You’re basically admitting you rely on luck or catching people off guard to win.

And if that is his strategy, it makes sense for him to decline rematches.

Is your strategy to troll them into submission, because if so I understand why you have issues getting them to agree to a rematch.

lol

If I’m going to rematch its because I think playing against that player will be good for my improvement. So most of the time only players who are better than me

Yeah cool. You couldn't use that excuse in a best of 3 format. That's my point.

And stop lying. I never played a single game against you

With a best of 3 format, you couldn't use this silly and overused excuse. You'd have to play and actually prove your skills.

Abtectous
How about we play a best of three? And I didn’t say we played, I was making a point.

It would be an excellent option.

But ONLY as an option.

I just sent you a rated challenge... you declined and asked for unrated instead.

If that’s not proof of cowardly behavior, I don’t know what is.

You can cheat and get away with it in unrated games, but try that in a rated match and you’d get banned... which is exactly why you’re ducking and tucking your little tail.

Elaborate how is it cowardly to not win a 1st game. Make it make sense

If I could make a political analogy, please: In America, the Republican Party in Congress is "flooded" with cowards as well. They are fearful of offending Trump.

I’m far from the only one saying this. It’s just that chess.com bans people who call it out... to keep the cowards from getting upset.
