lately my rating drops say one game out of 5 as if i had played and lost one extra game. in the long run this really affects my rating. i was a little over 1200 and ever since this started happening i dropped to 1100. this has to do i think with this fair policy bullshit that is popping up combined with a bad connection (i didnt do anything to recieve this warning lol) did anybody else experience this? it sucks.

i am not obsessed with my rating but when say every five games you get a random "hey here is -10 because u lost some game u never played" in the long run its not fun lol

i just got 2 of those in 4 games. and i won 2 out of my 4 games. but i got extra negatives so i dropped by like 20. after 2-3 days of this i reached a new stable rating 100 points lower ;P so i guess my opponents are unlucky and are playing someone 100 points higher ...

You're aborting games. That's why your rating is dropping. The system can't distinguish between an intentional disconnect and one due to a bad connection.

yes but aborted games used to not affect my rating..

Fair play policy states that if you abort too many games you will start to lose point every time you abort. I am not sure for how long it stays that way.

Avatar of MrNossovitch

but i never abort games intentionally ! ugh.

I had same trouble this evening. I lost 60 points today. Staff of chess.com was saying its part of fair play policy.

I used to play at ICC earlier this was never an issue.

It is unfair but if u get a preminum membership your connection will get better...maybe.

abt2mate i saw your post. me too there is random games that i lost that i never played if I look.. and aparently i keep "aborting" which i dont so it keeps happening. my blitz was in the 1150-1250 range and i slowly dropped to 1050. i guess i wont play a couple of days and see how it goes. anyways, удача!

If there is a penalty for aborting games, good!  I'm tired of players wasting my time by accepting my game request, then aborting as soon I play 1.d4 (or whatever opening they are afraid of).  I suspect that sometimes it is not about my opening, but instead because of the American flag next to my avatar.  Also, I suspect that many players are aborting games because they want to play only as white.

A penalty of one rating point per aborted game is not enough, it should be more like 10 or 20 points.

I have seen a few different posts in the forums with people playing via app having similar issues. Maybe there is a bug in the app.

Are all the aborted games against players you had a previous game with and immediately after those games?

Avatar of VierKazen89

! NEVER play games.

Avatar of MrNossovitch

aborting unintentionally.. not aborting at all.

Avatar of CECChessClass1

No, this is not the case. My crazyhouse rating drops a few points when I am away from chess.com. I am NOT aborting any games at all. I dropped from 2216 down to 2193 overnight when not even logged in. What is the deal?
