Yes I think a classical rating will do good for the site.
Chess.com needs a Classical rating

That's incorrect. Not only does it leave a point but it's also completely irrational. You can't expect to open the same or nearly closest to their fide rating because it'd need to introduce the completely new infrasturctue of site.
Not really - plenty of people have their ratified fide ratinng listed - using that as a starting point for a new rating category can't be that difficult an algorithm to create?

If nothing else can be done, they can surely put your starting classical rating as you've put it when you've joined. this is not ideal, but after a week or two, things will be as they should.
But if possible, it is probably the best solution to just copy your current rapid rating and that you start from there.
Of course, I support this idea, and I think there would be at least a little more people playing longer games.

They'd have to give a classical rating to everyone retroactively, and recalculate everyone's rapid rating, going all the way back. I expect logistics make it unlikely. There's about three billion games played every year (10M a day x 300 days (to make it easy)).
The site would likely handle it the same way they did with moving 10|0 into the rapid pool. There wouldn't be any recalculations, all games prior to the change would stay in the old pool, and they would create a process to initialize ratings in the new pool, probably based on the rapid rating.

My understanding is that the site plans on adding a classical pool, but it may take a while since the size of the database doesn't make it easy to add.

Glad it's in the pipeline

Start out everyone's classical rating on here the same as their VERIFIABLE fide rating. It'll be a low % because only a low % have otb ratings but it's a good starting point.

Personally the time control of G/25/10 Rapid that enjoyed a brief period of popularity with FIDE events is nice.

Just average people's rapid+daily rating = starting classical rating. Likely be close enough for many people. It might take a little while for the dust to settle. No biggie...

That's great news - has this been confirmed? Where is it mentioned? Thanks and thanks to everybody above for the support to the idea of a Classical rating on Chess.com

It was discussed in the following topic. This is the last post by @erik on it that I recall seeing

I know this is an old post but I'm still wating for this option. I have to play 10min games on lichess because I don't want to ruin my rapid rating on chess.com (I only play 30min or 60min games) which I feel is my proper rating. Maybe even the option to split your rapid and classical, so not everyobody has to do it?

Just start out with everyones classical rating close to their rapid rating - unless you've already got a fide rating then use that to start. After a few games the ratings would level out for both classical and rapid.
