Chess.com's live chess mechanisms are irkesome....

I am the founder of a team competing against other OTB teams having an online presence....We play in a big live league here on chess.com, where we were playing our final group stage match, and we would be finishing second in our group, and we would have potentially gone ahead and qualified for the semis, if some other results were to go in our way. So, I was playing my game, and stopped in between to watch the game of my teammates, this is quite important, as it tells me whether I am in a must-win situation in case I see the other boards faring poorly. Now, I checked out the other games, and headed to my own game which I was comfortably winning....I intended to close the 'watch' option by clicking the 'x' mark over it, so that my board would show up again, but accidentally also 'x' clicked the tournament page.....now this is fairly understandable, however shockingly, the server auto resigned my game for shutting the tournament page....this not only threw away my win, but also didn't let me focus in game 2, where I blundered and lost. And the worst thing is, the contact page now won't let me directly contact support for some reason, and the last time I contacted support, they didn't respond to me....terrible...

Note- This image is just for reference which I made, it is not the actual image my incident....

I think they made it because of players who close the application in middle of the match, but its irritating tho

These are problems here

In lichess there are no such glitch

And even if you are disconnected it show your opponent that he can claim win or draw as he want.

it sometimes doesnt let you do that, it would end the game in your tab saying it is opened in another device/browser or something of that sort

Board one player from that match here. Same thing happened to me in the first game on move 10. In fact I was slightly better at that point. Theres no reason I would have resigned.

Avatar of ashounak

The fact that the same thing happened to 2 of the players from our side is quite insane. I also remember this happening to me before in a friendly match with some English club
