I have been trying to read some old chess books lately and I'm going a bit cross eyed trying to follow the variations.
It occurred to me to find key games on the chess .com data base and just look at them on the computer. I had a really hard time finding my games on the data base here. I suppose I should try Chessbase, which I do not own.
I wish I could access online versions of the books with all the variations entered on a computer system so that I could click on the arrows and watch the variation unfold.
I suppose I am being lazy. These days, we expect fast information and lose patience for working through old books. At least, I do.
Perhaps there is something to be gained by sitting in a coffee shop and slowly moving real pieces on a board, frowning over a mistake that I might have made, and going back to fix it.
