Chess defensive Technique

Hey all, I was hoping if I could get some recommendations.

It has been made very aware to me that I am a quite a bit imbalanced player; meaning I play initiative, peice activity , tactical peice attacker at a higher level than my rating, but my defensive intuition and technique much below the norm.

Can  anyone recommend some quality material on defensive technique, or something of that nature? I do want to clarify that i am not very interested in the myriad of 'books dedicated to defensive strategies from move 1. I am not sure if such a thing exists, but to put it even more bluntly, I am looking for quality defensive resources for the attacking player. I'm not sure if this thing even exists, and you just have to bite the bullet and read the the defensive chess books that are filled with petroff defense and positional english games?

Books, software, websites, basically any resources are being sought.  Tomorrow I am making my yearly chess book order, and I would like this to be 1 of them.

ALSO- I sadly have no books on mikhail tals games, strategy, tactics, etc.  This will be one of the books I get. Unless there is an even better one on the other russian super attacker...god whats his name. nahmedszahiv er something like. It is the russian attacker who beat tal in a game tal famously quoted losin g that game was the best moment of his life. I've seen a cpl of his games and they were absolutely mind blowing.

In addition to defensive techniques resources(ones attacking players may especially find useful) Is there a preferred tal book(s) anyone can recommend? Again im interested in beautiful games, his thoughts annotations strategies, etc. Im not so much wanting a biography type thing which I know have got to be great reads as well..but I've only got about 2 months to really pack in chess play/study etc. before I have to get back to real life.

Thgouths very much appreciated

I have just one 'book' recommendation (based on one I purchased almost a year ago, very shortly after I joined chess(.)) and one other resource I consult before I start some games. I'd like to keep them 'for my friends' if you don't mind, as opposed to posting them here for public consumption; you ARE a friend, so very happy to post to you in member message, OK?

Lol your keeping a recommendation private?

That's weird

Not really Tyler; It avoids 'giving secrets to members' who play only once in a while, a lot games with just one mysterious member (who hasn't then played again), and whose ranking numbers seem not to match up quite right; Do you know anyone like that?

Well, pilot I dont think it's weird at all.  thanks you sir satchel. This is a mutual respect as you NOW know ;)

SatBchMagicer, both hilarious and ridiculous.  "Secrets!?"  Lol.  In this large pool?  Please, nobody would remember them anyway; too much too learn in this mire.

Listen Andy, defense is all about overprotection.  Some fish on here sumed up Nimzovitch to a T:   On overprotection:  Let's say you've got two pieces tied to defense.  Well, the idea is to defend the square (or pawn or piece) a third, maybe even a fourth time, as when you bring in a third defender, suddenly ANY one of the three defenders can now move.

Defense is mobility and flexibility.

Don't waste money on books, they are a colossal waste as at this level opponents won't ever do what they are "supposed to do."  Ta Ta. (pun intended)
