Chess, Dyslexia and Discalculia

I have dyslexia and discalculia, and I'm presuming that it is because of these issues I find the board with the pieces on it a visual muddle. For example, it is hard for me to see a straight path for a Bishop. I have to trace the line with my finger, and even then I get confused. Each of the other pieces create their own problems for me. In addition, I can never figure out the name of each square, probably because my brain rejects both the numbers and letters. Has anyone else had these issues and found a way of dealing with them? Thank you.

You didn't say if you were trying to play using the website or one of the two apps.

In the settings here for the chess.com website, you can select an option to display the moves that a piece can make when your mouse cursor moves over it. That might be helpful.

The fact that lessons are often on video now and lessons often use colored squares to demonstrate possible moves and to highlight important strategic concepts will possibly make it easier for you to learn without having to read.
