Chess engine - Playing slow game?

Hi folks,

I want to play slow games against either Chess.com personalities, or Komodo, or Stockfish, whatever on Chess.com. But the problem is that computer plays right away, even if the game is 45|45, it will take only couple of seconds for move - which is not realistic.

Does anyone know the way how to avoid this? Is it even possible on Chess.com? If not, what are the alternatives?

Hmm.  You should go find one of the dedicated chess computers from the early '80's. They needed the time to think because their memory was limited and the processors were slow.

I am sympathetic to your request. They do play very quickly and it can throw off your rhythm.

I would make the suggestion using the "Make a suggestion" link in Help.

It seems like it should be pretty easy to make the computer respond more slowly but the problem is that if you make it take at least 30 seconds on every move, that wouldn't feel right either because some opening moves normally move pretty quickly, while other middlegame moves might require multiple minutes.

Have you tried the Slow Chess League club? They get good players who like to play slow games.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I am aware that on Chess.com there is Slow Chess League, and also on Lichess there is similar alternative, but unfortunately I can't play there because, due to my daily job, it's incredibly hard to schedule a game, and show up at that time. I did make a suggestion to Chess.com, couple of months ago - but nothing has changed. Strange thing is that, manipulating time control is really easy thing to do, so sad that they haven't implemented such a simple feature.

Just play on a chess board and update the computer's move after a minute or two, ignoring when the move actually plays. This way you control the speed manually with which the opponent piece moves on your physical chess board. Easy fix

It could be that the engine is set to a higher analysis depth or thinking time, which makes it take longer to play moves. Check the settings for things like "depth" or "time per move" and lower them if you want faster gameplay. Also, if you're running it on older hardware, that might slow it down too.
