Chess for fun or for rating???

Nowadays people worry more about their rating than about their chess improvement.

It's a game, and games aren't only to be mastered, but also for entertainment.

What is your opinion on this?

For fun but it also is good to improve

Yes, it's very true people care more about their rating, even I'm guilty of this. It could be for external validation, let's say you're part of a club and people look at your account, you want them to see a high rating, or it could be that dopamine rush from seeing that big number.

It's not a problem until you value it above enjoying this wonderful game.
