Chess for Oldtimers --- Good Idea !

Great advice, badenwurtca, but far easier said than done sometimes.

I try hard not to"sweat the small stuff". When all said and done,most of the resentments we hang on to are " small stuff".

Whenever I get reminded of an old "insult" or "injustice" that's hard to let go of, I like to create a happy imaginary scene in my mind.  I just have to compose a very clever, totally snarky comment and picture an appropriate setting. 

It's always a short scene:   I see the perpetrator, walk right up, calmly deliver my devastatingly caustic line, then turn on my heels and stride away triumphantly.  The evil-doer just stands there, stunned into silence and shame by my self-confidence, brilliance and wit.

After that, I can usually go on with the rest of my day. :-)

Sounds good to me, Mil.  Nothing like leaving them standing ... speechless ... and with some dumb expression on their face.

Unbelievably tragic.  I've heard of a pistol packin' mama, but this is ridiculous.  I guess you're never to old to be a psychopath.  What's the first sentence from Anna Karenina?  “All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”

On my wife's homeland there was a woman about that age who was always carrying a gun (illegal on Spain). After her husband's death she was the only inhabitant remaining at the hamlet and she didn't want to leave it to live on the city with the family. She would point it at any stranger showing there. It was a bit like the typical old lady in westerns who points at the main character with a 6-foot rifle and tells him: "I think you came to the wrong ranch, son".

That's pretty funny, Daniel.  She sounds like a real independent character.

Indeed. Sadly she "got on board", as they say there, a few years ago, and the town is empty now.
