Loved Mason in Georgy Girl (great title song, too).  Other films with memorable Mason performances -- Heaven Can Wait, A Star Is Born, and The Fall of the Roman Empire.

Ah yes " 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea ", an enjoyable film that then brings us to the great Kirk Douglas. Of course Kirk Douglas was in many many good movies including a World War One story entitled " Paths Of Glory " ( & that brings us back to Director Stanley Kubrick ). And of course Kubrick was also a Chess player as well   lol.

Of all of Stanley Kubrick's unique, groundbreaking works, I think Paths Of Glory may be his best film; it is certainly his most moving.

Regarding Kubrick as a chessplayer, how about this photo of him playing George C. Scott on the set of Dr. Strangelove.

Don't know who I'd be more afraid to play against. Surprised

One of the actors that I liked from " Paths Of Glory " is George Macready who played the evil general. I also remember seeing him many years ago in " The Great Race "and later in " Tora Tora Tora ". Mind you a lot of people my age should remember him from the TV series " Peyton Place " ( yes he was Mr. Peyton ).

Recently I received a catalogue in the mail that included an ad for a variety of T-shirts ( with cute sayings ). One of these shows a drawing of a stick-man and reads " I Pooped today ! " Yes that one would be lost on young people   lol. Another good one is " I'm Retired, You're Not ! Nah - nah -nah nah ". One that I really like is " How to Handle Stress Like a Dog: If you can't Eat it or Play with it ---Then Pee on it and walk away ! "

---   Thanks for the post Pam234. Yes it seems that dogs do develop their own characteristics as time goes by, a lot like a little kid   lol.

I guess that we could sneak in a quote from Oscar Wilde: " To win back my youth, there is nothing I wouldn't do, except take exercise, get up early, or be a useful member of the community ".

You got to love Mr Wylde.

Recently I came across a cute joke put out by Dave Perry: " My therapist told me that the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today I have finished two bags of M & M's and a chocolate cake, I feel better already. "

You can't beat a sugar high! lol

I just luv this item from Harry Hill: " We've all seen them, on the street corners, many of them smoking, many of them on drugs. They've got no jobs to go to and once a week we see them queuing for the state handouts - or pensions, as we call them. "

pam234

Hahaha! Although I'm a pensioner I don't spend much time on street corners but the rest I plead guilty to!
