It wouldn't make any sense for Chess.com to do that deliberately because nobody in their right mind would spend more than 5 minutes on such a site.
It sounds like a bug. You should report it. (Not just here. Use the app store reporting and rating system.)
You didn't say if you use Android or IOS, what operating system and updates you have installed and if this problem just started (with an update) or has always existed for as long as you have used the site.
