Could someone please explain how to play against the Scotch Game
That is usually how I play. But these days I am not getting such good positions from it. Could someone please suggest how to play the Scotch Game for Black.
I am a mostly defensive player who is fine with open positions but prefers closed.

Thanks but what I mean is the following:
Is playing Bc5 ok? I know that later on White has some D4..C3 ideas
Anyone else is welcome to help if they can
Except anything associated with "google"?
I think that 3...exd4 is generally approved, and 4...Nf6 is the most popular choice. 4...Bc5 has also been suggested, but, if I remember correctly, some writers warn of potential trouble for Black.
