Maybe at that level. But at our level the difference in playing strength is almost entirely tactics. I feel that below a master level, openings are not very important.
I have been told by a friend of mine who is rated a over 2100 (FIDE) that even at his level he feels that openings are not all that important. I'm rated merely 1500 USCF (1750 on here) and I have to agree with him entirely. Its good to know some opening theory but it's not as important as people think it is.
Well, i already brought the book about openings and i will continnue reading it, but also practicing tactics, what procedure do you recomend???

I wholeheartedly agree with the previous posts that opening preparation is not as important for those of us under master class. Tactics, tactics, tactics, an endgame study here and there, and then more tactics. Just about any method will suffice. If you have books, then read all you can, if you have a computer, then even better. Tactics programs a plenty, and even here at Chess.com with the "Tactics Trainer" will bode well for you.
Yes, you will need opening study of some kind, but don't allow it to dominate your study time. Make tactical improvement your main focus.
