Islam is not a monolithic religion. There is no Islamic "Pope" who decides for everybody. Instead, religious questions are settled by each "school" or sect individually... so some Islamic sects consider Chess to be haram, while others consider it to be halal.

When the results came back it turned out they were all from the same root stock. They were cousins. We all came out of Africa. We are all Brothers and Sisters on this planet.

We are all Brothers and Sisters on this planet.
Brothers murdering each other is a honored tradition. There are many examples from Cain and Abel to Stannis and Renly.

Hi everyone,
I just want to mention that one of the community conducts in Chess.com Community Policy (https://www.chess.com/legal/community) is "Do not publicly debate religious or political topics".

When I went into a therapy group they told us that we should treat each other like our brothers and sisters. So I turned around socked the guy next to me. It's only half funny. 🤣😥🙏
Muslim scholars tend to place chess, a skill-based game, in a different category from games of chance, such as dice, but frown upon it if it distracts a person from performing the five daily prayers. Placing bets under any circumstances is forbidden.
Saudi Arabia's grand mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz al-Sheikh once ruled that chess is forbidden in Islam, saying it encourages gambling and is a waste of time.
