I play in the cardigan.
Chess in the hood

i played at union sq but not alot... they like to play for money plus im better than them! lol
Walked into this night-club a few years ago when i was living in connecticut, This guy had a chessboard set-up on one of the tables $500 bucks per game clocks and all ! There were no takers he was driving a Custom Beamer (BMW). How much money were these guys at union sq throwing around ?
They're cheap man. $5 is the most those guys play for. Really most of them are average class A and B players who get most of their money from tourists. There a few really good guys like Russian Paul still around but even those guys ive never see play for more than $5.

When i used to play for cash $50 bucks was the minimum to make it worth your time around jersey and philadelpia, must be the economy !

Reminds me of the time in Hartford connecticut when i went over to play an older gentilman who was playing outside with his "crew". He said young fellow i have been playing chess for over 40 years longer than you have been living. I told him sorry for 40 years you have been playing the wrong way ! I won quite easily and gave him a chess book on basic chess principles, we had a good laugh .
