chess is boring

Chess can be very boring when you never know what to do except keep your pieces defended, then wonder why you end up losing them anyway. That's what made it very boring for me. Its difficulty is its most attracting and repulsing feature: it's hard to have any idea what you're doing, but whatever you do figure out in chess, it's extremely rewarding.
It's more fun than stamp collecting.
Good luck inventing a better game.
Try playing over the board and not just on a computer. ACTUAL human interaction is an amazing thing.

The problem is that you are playing the wrong opening. Try the Corsican Throat Punch opening. 1e4, followed by 2 h4 againsts all defences, then while they consider their next move poke them in the adam's apple with your right thumb. The next several minutes will be many things, but boring is not among them.
If its boring try Battleship or Monopoly
