It was a joke lil bro.
Chess is dead, thanks computers

why you takin dat crap so serious
Relax, its just words? something you clearly haven’t mastered yet.

@LieutenantFrankColombo
Maybe you are unable to understand what I wrote! You keep on repeating I, I,I,I, but again it is irrelevant what YOU think about chess, because you are a chess player who is still playing. What is important is to know why so many chess players are NOT playing anymore, or why many teenagers don't want to play chess.
The fact that you don't even understand a simple concept as that I wrote, is also proving that many chess players are totally uncapable to get in touch with the world around them.
Chess is never going to be super popular. It will never be a high level sport or activity. Their is a reason you dont see it on TV. Unless you are into chess no one wants to stare at a TV or screen for hours watching 2 players sit there. As popular as The Queens Gambit is, their is a reason they move so fast in game scenes.
Bottom lime. Chess will never take over as a major sport/interest. But it most certainly is not going away. WE may disagree on that and thats fine.
If you're into chess for "PRESTIGE." You're in it for the wrong reason.
And sorry but your online condescending tone doesnt bother me. It takes ZERO effort to remain anonymous and be rude. You are forgiven and have a blessed weekend.

... Finally, you are two times RIDICOLUS, ...
Please, read a book and be less ignorant, instead of wasting your time on socials,
Word for word, who's wasting more time?

Now I know that:
- chess is dead for one physicist who knows math
- chess is alive for many other people
- facts #1 and #2 did not change my life

Chess is dead at the measly low levels? Pair a 300 against Stockfish. Play Stockfish. Pair me against Stockfish. Pair @MagnusCarlsen against Stockfish. Chess is dead and solved, so we should hold a draw, right?

And I get that “solved” and “dead” are different. But still, if chess is dead, why different openings at each level? Why do queen hangs exist? Why do people like @HangingPiecesChomper exist who talk about how all you need to make it in chess is to exploit obvious blunders. Regardless if the theory is true, it’s another ideology with a bit of truth to it. Just like yours. But at 99.9999% of people, chess is alive. And for the remaining fraction of a percent, they’re doing their own thing, learning insane prep and practically pre-moving the hardest moves to find in chess. And results still vary when they play too.
So no, chess is not dead. It is solved by computers in the sense that humans cannot beat them, but even for bots, chess is not a tablebase draw (yet) and Stockfish still keeps being updated. And if bots ever get that far, most people (especially chess coaches, since they are usually teaching beginners/intermediates/small children/people who aren’t going to try and solve chess) won’t be affected that much, since chess will be recognized as a complex and infinite game for years to come.

Who seriously memorizes all the lines? Who would bother?
If anything the clock killed chess, especially clicks that do not allow thinking.

Summary: No human can beat a bot, proving that we didn’t solve chess. Humans aren’t going to be solving chess anytime soon, and if it is ever feasible for a bot to solve chess, most humans aren’t going to sit down and do it. Nearly all coaches and 99.999% of people won’t be significantly affected.

I remember years ago there was a guy that was selling his chess books on how to beat stockfish on amazon. He claimed to be an Expert class player and discovered the "secret" to beating the strongest chess engines. His books were full of game he had played against stockfish, but no explanation as why "how" or "why" he was winning. The general consensus was that he was playing games and taking back moves. Many people challenged him to play and he always refused. He eventually disappeared.
I think every so often someone comes along online making the next great claim about chess being dead/solved/etc.

@Deadmanparty, I don’t think anything killed chess, but I agree with you significantly more than the creator of this forum.

I completely agree.

That was something? Its honestly amazing how you managed to weaponize a complete lack of cognitive function into a full paragraph? You sound like a toddler on espresso with a crayon in each nostril threatening people from your mums basement.
