I've been playing chess for a while but I don't understand how to win (checkmate)

You just have to do it better that your opponent

Go to Play > New game > Play computer

In "Position" select "Key Positions". You will be able to play some frequent endings. Good luck!

 as in you Literally do not know HOW to checkmate the king?

 

this is an attack on the king, where you cannot get out of check.
