Chess is not a sport, or is it?

Golf and bowling are real sport. Chess is merely a pastime for grumpy old men.

a) go straight to the forums and insult people who play chess by saying it's for grumpy old men.
b) play chess.
Looking at the definition provided by Joe_Harper: "an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature.."
We all know it is not a sport since it has no athletic activity whatsoever. Although such games as chess and also some computer games are called (e)-sports nowadays. Probably just a trend to make some (fat) nerds feel better or it sounds good for marketing purposes as something having the word sport sounds serious instead of a mind game with zero athletic activity where you sit over the board for hours...

Some might say it's the other way around. XD

"an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc."

I'm a grumpy old man myself. Love chess. No insult was ever intended by me.
