I've often wished that the King could take it's own pieces in a pinch!

badenwurtca

Well the King's pieces are supposed to protect his majesty ?

I see where somebody wants to take castling out of the game ( No No No ).

In a true monarchy the King is allowed to sacrifice  his own men to aid his escape, can think of many examples, the Swiss guard comes to mind first.

Perfection.

Agree with this thread. The only "problem" with chess, if you call it that, is at the very very highest level of play. We are talking about the elite of the elite. This represents probably one-tenth of one percent of the chess players on the planet. Okay, so I also get the economics of the situation. sponsors will not be drawn to events if millions of people are not interested. And millions or more are not interested in watching endless draws. And therein contains the conundrum.

Hey, now that would make a Swiss tournament more interesting.

So I see where someone is not happy with the En Passant rule, sorry but it stays and furthermore it stays as is  lol.

I notice that someone here wants to change the rules governing draws ( sorry, not happening ).

CPU analysis ruining the game. New variation... l2 x l2 SuperChess. Both sides get extra pair of bishop and knight?

What about a Coin Flip? I've played in many tournaments with 7 rounds, and there is always a difference between the W-B game ratio. Maybe?

Although it would change the game TOO much!

The main modification that have been made to the rules of Chess in the last 500 years or so was the introduction of the Chess-Clock. Therefore Chess is now the perfect game and no further changes are needed !

Essentially, I agree. Perhaps the classical games will need their time to be trimmed a bit more but that's about it. So either no change or only very small incremental changes are ok. Chess is either perfect or very close to perfection. And that's why People Of The Planet Love the Game/Science/Sport of CHESS!!

Chess isn't perfect. Nobody, nothing is! I propose CHANGES. I propose a deck of cards or electronic random opening generator. It we keep playing from starting position of all pawns on 2nd or 7th rank, many amateur would rely on memorization of opening repertoire. Play only chosen opening and variations.
