How about the first move advantage! This makes the game unbalance making it imperfect competitively. Of course this is a minor flaw however white will always start with a few centi-pawn lead.
A few centi-pawns is not enough to make a win out of.

just one change imo: one can capture his own pieces
it will prevent back rank mates and will open up more possible checkmates.
No because it will be much harder to play attacking games.

harder means it will be more interesting
We now have someone complaining about the " Touch Rule " in OTB play. Well people can complain all they want, sorry no changes lol.

--- Well of course any major match ( eg: World Title ) should be played to an even number of games in total so that both players have the same chances on the White side of the board.
--- Someone has another thread on the go about a big advantage for White. Any match with two players goes to an even number of games ( eg 10 games ) to keep the odds even. If you have Black in the first game then you will have White in the last game and both players have the same number of games with the White pieces, quite simple right lol.

That's already a variant under "variants" on the site.
Yup I just spotted another thread where they want to get rid of all draws. Bad idea and let us look at a couple of examples why. Example A: You have a couple of players that compete in 2 games and end up winning 1 game each so therefore they both get 1 point. --- Example B: Again we have a couple of players who compete in 2 games but this time both games end in draws and again both player get 1 point each. Okay then WHAT The Heck was the big problem here in the 1st place ??? Hint: There will be NO Changes in the Rules !!!
--- Yup more complaints about draws lol.
Someone has brought back a thread asking about any recent changes to the rules in Chess. Well of course as Chess is the perfect game there have not been any major changes in a number of years. Probably the best rule change in many years was the introduction of the time-clock so that a certain pace of play had to be maintained based on the time setting that was agreed to.

--- Interesting, would you care to elaborate ?
The queen has been dominating the meta for so long, that it's gotten stale. I mean, ik the devs wanted to make a piece stronger than the others, but when a single queen forces you on the defensive and leaves no room for counterattack, it's frustrating. Idk when the next balance update is going to come out, but I'm expecting a queen nerf and a buff to the knight(It's been overshadowed by the bishop lately)
I see where someone has a thread on the go claiming that Chess is getting boring ? Perhaps they should try playing Checkers instead Lmao.
Sorry but the various rules for draws seem more about speeding up some tournaments than actually being integral to any noble idea about the sanctity of chess.
that would be cool
