Any endeavor enough human beings decide is a sport, is a sport. Any endeavor that marketing dweebs decide is a professional sport and back it up with $$$, is a professional sport. Any other definition is transient, and incorrect.

That’s the crux of matter. Sport is a word. It is defined by people in accordance with their needs to communicate.
Chess is big business. Look at the money @Erik and company are making with this website.
Chess is a competitive activity with all the scandals and heartache of other competitive activities.
Chess gives you “the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat”. It should be on ABC’s Wide World of Sports.

Chess.Com has terms of service you agreed to when you made your account. They include not intentionally disrupting conversations which you did. It's called trolling. Try to control you hurt feelings and either make comments related to the topic or simple go away.

Diogenes #150 and Ziryab #160 summed it up. But no doubt the partriot will show up and make a page long dissertation about why she is the sole arbiter of what qualifies as a sport.
By the way this is only one of a long list of threads about this. Obviously there is no limit to the number of people wishing to spend their time arguing about nonsense.

This is a forum in a chess site about whether chess is a sport, so obviously there'll be a huge bias. Go ask people in the real world and almost nobody will agree it's a sport.
And here we go.
Obviously there is no "huge bias" since ( if you read ) half the people commenting here say it isn't and half say it is.
but it is not related to the topic
