Chess is WAR so FIGHT! Why RUN?

I haven't been playing long but i'm learning that this site has a great power. It shows who has courage and who is weak. They say life imitates art. Chess is an art that mimics life. I've noticed many players don't rematch. They choose to run away or talk trash and refuse a rematch on account of some rubbish comment like, "oh you are too easy". If you win and then run, it makes no sense. If you lose and run it is worse because it shows you will never have the courage to get better and learn from defeat. Everyone loses and everyone wins at times. The one thing this site is missing is a "3 game challenge". It would be a great option so you are at least allowed 3 games to prove the winner. I will rematch anyone because i love chess. The reason nobody rematches is because of 3 things. 1. They are scared. 2. They are low on confidence and run away in fear of defeat. 3. They flag to win and have no decent game and know a loss is coming. Society has become weak and it shows. If someone runs away, just know you are better than they will ever be because you are brave and have belief in yourself and that is what makes you a winner.

Don't play bullet. If you consider someone cowardly for not rematching when you lose, then it sounds like you're convinced that you have to prove you're better than them at all costs. News flash, I forget about my bullet opponents within an hour, win or lose, no one cares so insulting them just displays insecurity.

SiennaCruise

perhaps but this isn't about insults. It's about having the courage to rematch and enjoy the game. Do you rematch?

Cold_W1nter

Right... calling them a coward isn't insulting them... my fault. May I ask why they need to prove courage to you? And since when is rematching ever about courage, I rematch if the opponent plays well and we get interesting games. For example, I rematch titled players because I can trust they are legitimate and they play well.

SiennaCruise

So if someone wants to learn from you after a loss and rematches you, then you wont give them the opportunity because their games weren't interesting enough for you?

Cold_W1nter

In bullet, it's absurd to think that those who request rematches are all seeking to learn from you. Bullet is often mindless chess, it's obvious to me that one would rematch out of desire to prove oneself to a person you've never met, or to farm ELO.

So no, I do not rematch anybody, nor do I offer a rematch to just anybody. If they want to learn, they shouldn't be playing bullet.

kjz30

okay, Jordan Peterson ...

maybe the reason people don't want to play against you is ... you?

SiennaCruise

Wow, so many haters. Many people rematch but only the 2400's i play. They understand respect and the value they can give. The low level players that escape with a win are simply just scared. Everyone has an opinion. I respect their opinion but i dont hate on them for it. this is a discussion. nobody is judge, jury and executioner.

Cold_W1nter

Sorry, I didn't mean to be passive agressive, you only stated that everybody who disagrees with you is a coward. 2400's rematch because pairing takes so long at such a high level due to the low player pool. It has nothing to do with "courage" and "respect"

SiennaCruise

I appreciate your comment but that makes no sense to me. These higher players are playing open unrated so they can get a new game at the click of a mouse the same way we all can. They rematch because they are not scared to. Think about it. This is what they tell me. Nobody ever gets better without losing. Losing is nothing but learning. Nobody should be scared to play or too arrogant that the person they play is too low. Let's help each other and honor at least one rematch.

kjz30

no one owes you a rematch. this whole "people are scared of me" thing is all in your head. society isn't weak just because it doesn't conform to your ideas of ... honor? maybe people just prefer to play against a new opponent. maybe they don't care what you think. who are you to judge complete strangers for something irrelevant like rematching or not in online chess? chill the f--- out.

SiennaCruise

Ummm i'm chill. I'm not the one freaking out LMAO

SiennaCruise

Most poeple lose after a rematch. There is more pressure i think. I can easily get a game but to play someone that really wants to win is a better option i think happy.png

blueemu

I find that my chess works better if I don't get my ego all tangled up in it.

Have you tried using a rubber band?

SiennaCruise

hehehe Blueemu, thats actually quite funny.

Cold_W1nter

That's kinda absurd. If you watch any high-rated player 2300 or above, they rematch because the player pool is low enough that you're just playing against the same 5 people or so who are playing at that time. I agree, losing is what helps a person learn. But do YOU analyze every game you play in bullet, or any for that matter? Or do you just keep playing or rematching? Could you name specifically what you learned from the past couple games you've played?

Cold_W1nter

Always can rely on Blueemu for a witty comment to break up the tension, thank you good sir. I apologize if my tone seems abrasive, I just disagree with your belief, nothing about you op.
