Chess isn't fair - but I can fix it!

I had already thought of that though and we have some prototype sets in my warehouse in Singapore.  The early responses from the test marketing were not promising.  We have solved the teething problems and the "second-generation" prototypes now have a big "W" printed on the heads of half the pieces and a big "B" on the other half.  I have got a first production run of 10,000 sets planned for next week. Kerchiing!

I have a suggestion.  How about real chess anarchy!  Kung Fu Chess:  players make moves whenever they please!  For example, white has his hand on a pawn and black graps the pawn with bishop in hand in an attempt to capture it...then a huge fist fight results?!  Hmmmmm....  Just an entertaining idea....

To be truthful, I think chess is fair the way it is.  One move per player with rules of conduct (without fist fights) is the best way to go.  Of course, one player has to go first and thus has the advantage.  But, a dedicated player ends up playing as many white games as black games.  Any attempts to equalize white and black sides of the chess game will result in greater 'unfairness', in my opinion.

I have to admit, this forum is quite entertaining.  I'd like to see what ideas come up next.

Every time a player takes a piece he loses a finger, every time he takes a pawn he loses a toe.

Your secondary idea is just as crazy. very bad idea, Beast, you are proposing to ruin chess... bravo. As for your first idea, the clock placement is entirely up to Black, so white gets no say whatsoever.

How about this, white gets two moves, and black gets three moves per turn, that way white and gather up his defences, and how about you have to move the pieces only using your little fingers on both hands, since the left handed people have an advantage and of course will lie and pretend they are right handed people. that seems much more fair to me, 

Heck no, white's first turn advantage allows it to take out a pawn first.

Most people would resign before they got anything cut off, and wouldn't wait until their toes were gone.

I second this motion.  In fact, I've adopted this to nullify all inequities in the world.  I actually paint myself gray to put black people at ease when I'm around.

damn. i just noticed someone had said that already. to compensate, i'd put forth a serious idea (ahem). play two games simultaneously, so each player gets to be white in one of the games. alternatively, for every n moves, give black an extra move (since an extra move per move of white is patently lopsided).

It's up to Black to make it equal (or better yet, take back the advantage and win), that's what chess is about. But I like some of the creative thinking going on here :)

or we could have a 9x8 chessboard, with one column reserved for black. now that's an idea.

why is using your left hand a disadvantage?

I'm glad someone brought this topic up!!!  It's something that's really been on peoples minds!!!!  t/y so much  , i think a trophy is  in order!!!

black should be allowed to pick a random pawn that will be automaticly changed into a second queen or king on move 10

 your discovery is not new we all know that...

1. With both sides playing very well in a game. The game should be drawn.

2. It will be unfair only if a very high rated player against a player of lower rating...

3. It will be unfair also if especially in the opening if one player black or white has more knowledge in an opening and variations

In the tournaments I organise I have the boards raised half an inch on the black side - this makes white have to play slightly up hill which evens things out especially in long end games where stamina becomes a factor.
