Chess makes me mad

So i lost access to my old account here on chess.com and I made a new one. The old one had like 2000 games played and I was a solid 1500 blitz and 1600 rapid. This wasnt a peak or something, I hold that ratings all the time.

Few months ago i did this account and I am very mad right now, because it looks like right now I am stuck at 1200. How was I 1500 few months ago and now I am playing like an 1200.

So i am confused, is 1200 and 1500 actually a very close skill gap so thats why i cannot rise or what the hell is going on?

I refuse to think that i could get worse at chess right in the moment when I made a new account.

Hmm. Did you write to support@chess.com to recover access to that old account?

Welcome back CooloutAC!!! The forums just weren't the same without you!

Someone is back? An Elton John song comes to mind, but since the forums are for babies these days I'll have to pots a more appropriate song.

Isn’t that pfp of yours hamburgaler from McDonald’s?

Ok, looking at his November 5th games, he did struggle a bit... but it only makes sense... virtually no one rated below 200 is actually rated below 200. Like coolout they lose games on purpose to get there. I saw a few opponents whose max rating was 1000 or who had fewer than 10 games played.

Even so, he quickly got back to his correct rating.

Anyone with rating of 0?

Can't remember if I've already told you this, but ~1 year ago some guy on reddit made a bot which would play random legal moves in live chess and it came out with a rating of 261. So yeah, really hard to be playing seriously and still be that low rated.

Oh, I didn't know this.

Makes sense its rating would be above 100 (because players at that level lose on purpose) but I would have no intuition for where it would have ended up. 261 eh? So that's something like the true floor on this site.

Yeah

I have some of the old McDonald’s plates. Like “Ronald mcdonald saves this hot summer day, while ol captain crook stays safely away”. Why do I remember that by heart?

Avatar of DefenderPug2

The plate as a picture of McDonald fighting for a basket against a octopus with his heels dug into the sand, and a pirate look at them from a distance.

Avatar of DefenderPug2

there’s more sand in his sandbagging then there is on the beaches.

I was so surprised and shocked and couldn't understand what was going on.

One time, with one of my new accounts in the past, I wanted to lose some rapid games.

So my first rapid game I'm opening up with the scholar's mate, and in general playing pretty poorly after that too.

But then I spot this really cool tactical idea... difficult enough that I was barely good enough to find it. Now I want to try to win... and the tactics works! And I win that game.

My opponent was probably so confused lol.

Something is definitely up with that.

It's almost as if players at that level are better than their rating. But how would that even happen? Such a mystery.

That's only possible if you were truly and completely new.

A truly new player would probably be rated in negative numbers... but yeah, at that level you gain rating extremely quickly.

what did I just say bud.  I learned chess 2 months ago.  Again,  I AM NOT LIKE YOU PEOPLE>   I DON"T HAVE OR HAD MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS!!!!  i understand its so rare its hard to believe.  But it is what it is.  And again,  you people are the answer to your own question.  not me buddy.

Yeah, it's pretty rare.

Oh, and they'd only be rated negative if everyone played for real and there was no artificial floor at 100.

As Steven pointed out random moves are enough to stay above 100 (and maybe 200) simply because people lose on purpose (maybe having a bad connection contributes too).

it is not.  You are wrong bud.  Extremely condescending to even suggest.   I literally almost quit because of false comments like yours when i was stuck at 100.  What is wrong with you?

Why did you resign this game?

I guess like you said, it was tilt...

I'm looking at your games... maybe you're right...
