Chess on a boat

Well soon, Me and my buddies are going to play some chess on his uncles boat. Tell water is going to be a bit choppy, so is there a way we can play OTB with out all the pieces falling other? Any suggestions? all we have is an new plastic Staunton set.

get some great magnets and attach them to the bottom.  The play on a metal table.  

 

alternatively, velcro tabs.  they come in round discs with sticky backs. 

 

another option -- get some cardboard and make a board, then cut holes in it over each square so the pieces get sunk into the board so they can't slide around.

Hmm...

I think that as long as the boat doesn't go into the water, you should be fine.

Get a really cheap set and hope for the best. Make it magnetic for extra insurance.

Then if you get washed away you can make it into a compass and navigate back.
