Chess on monitor screen vs. real board

Hello can anyone relate to a more difficult time perceiving spacial awareness when playing on a real chess board vs playing on a computer/phone screen And does this mess you up?! Or do you quickly get used to it and think nothing of it. I know that peripheral vision is important and such a drastic change in how the board is presented could cause error.
