if it was invented in england, there would be a teacup shaped piece.
...and periodic breaks for High Tea?

One of my cats used to sleep on my computer keyboard, and she liked to walk around in a circle two or three times before lying down.
She could type: lkihyjyegzscvc bvbnk.uiouiutywfdsvbjmnluiyiuyrertws
Actually chess originated in Atlantis. But since Atlantis sank no records or artifacts were ever found.
Slight correction. It was first introduced to this planet in Atlantis. It actually originated in a star system in the Larger Magellanic Cloud that was abandoned when the nearby S Doradus went into a particularly virulent variable period and the refugees included some that were temperamentally suited to roaming the cosmos (spawning legends of ancient astronauts). There were records that actually survived the sinking of Atlantis but those that remained on Earth had been relocated to Lemuria and were finally lost when that continent sank. Chataranga was a local variant of the original game but later ancient astronaut visitors stopped by Europe and restored the original rules.
Hmm. Makes as much sense as some other theories that have appeared in this thread.
The origin of Chess...
The game was introduced to southern Europe in the tenth century by the Arabs, but it is not known where exactly it was invented. It derives from shatranj or chatrang, which is itself the Persian version of chaturanga from classical India. The current rules were established at the end of the 15th century. Chess is one of the most popular puzzle games in the world.
it was created by princess olga of kiev in the year 968 during the siege of kiev. everybody knows this and no cats were involved in any way

Wow. Atlantis sank. Then Lemuria sank.
We should all wear life preservers in case it happens to us.
Arguments about where chess began. (Who)
Arguments about how it will end. (Solved)
Arguments about which opening is trash. (Or best)
Arguments about who will be champion next. (After His Greatness steps aside)
Yes it is, no it isn’t.
Yes it did, no it didn’t.
Wouldn't be the first time England has claimed something that India has
it was invented and played in India
Yes, true.
