Chess + Pandorum. Would the game help, or worsen its effects?

To cut a long story short, Pandorum is a sickness (fictional) that results from deep space travel. The subject experiences severe paranoia which can lead to extreme cases of dementia, and possibly moral catastrophe.

Do you think chess would only worsen the effects as we've seen in some cases through the course of history, or might it actually establish some order by instilling some reason and logic, as well as some fun?

Also, I was just watching passengers (2016), and these guys ate a lot of food while they were up 😅. Does anyone think there might be a food shortage to come? Perhaps there's agriculture and farming right on the ship playhand.png.
