A research has been made by the university of Amsterdam, where it has been put a bait thread in the most famous chess forum in the world( to meet chess players) to find if average smart people could understand that it was a joke. The post was acknowledging that chess players where replying that of course it was a joke that a young player could beat Houdini.There are human limits to go behind the calculated moves by the strongest engin, especially considering that the guy is 8 years old. But the great number of replies that feed the troll( and nice) post certif, that the chess players were doing the game of the original poster, that wanted they could lose their marginal utility time functions, dedicating their free time to reply to a post that did not increase any effective knowledge and after the 5th post become frustrating.
The assumption of the research was that if a poster was smart, would have replied in an immediate post asking to not feed further such an impossible assumption showing ability to anticipate moves. So that the users could leave few funny comments after his new post, to make the day better of all the players and filling a social need instead that frustrate the users with 98% equal comments about the fact that of course it is not possible for a young man of 8 years to beat Houdini.
