How important is it to know what your chess personality is i.e. how you play?

And what is your chess personality?

I think it's something that develops as you play. E4 plays are generally more tactical and aggressive, while d4 or c4 are more positional, or strategic ideas. These moves are on the white side of the board. I would say knowing how you like to play, your personality per say, is a very important thing to know or develop. It immensely helped Garry Kasporav get to where he is today. Also, don't think it's a set thing, it is changable! I prefer sharper things like King's Gambit or Blackmar Diemer Gambit, both opposited themed, KG aims to either have a giant king side attack or center control. BDG though, tears the center way open and aims to give white a very open, attacking game. If you don't know either, I suggest you look at them! When I play black though, I aim for a longer game, with most of everything off the board because I do know how basic mates are done, king opposition, and pawn endgames.
