Chess pieces as today's modern military analogue.

I like it that way.

The Charlemagne Chess Set.

It is still that way in Chinese chess.

I don't get it.

Why play with new symbols?

Why not the original, the antique?

It makes it timeless and old school.

American football. It hearkens back to the days of the Trojan War.

Destro likes to play with the pieces of his time too.

My chess set.

Augustus and Napoleon.

To jump into the future, the perfect chess set would be the Bauhaus Chess Set.

It is divorced from its historical roots, and becomes geometric abstractions. It would be something out of Star Trek.

Pawns = Infantry
Bishop = Jaegers
Knight = Cuirassiers
Rook = Artillery

My chess set is the most fantastic chess set. I cannot imagine a better chess set.

My chess set follows the pattern of the Staunton design.

The Staunton design is absolutely perfect. It is perfect in the simple USCF chess set.

The USCF set is perfect because it is simple vertical geometric shapes.

Let's go back into history to see the origin of that genius artistic idea.

It's in the Islamic civilizations.

"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image." - somewhere in the Bible.

The Islamic approach to chess pieces is to make it as simple geometric shapes, is the genius that we inherit in the Staunton chess set and all its descendants.

The near perfection we have today owes its debt to the simple Islamic design of its predecessor.

My figurine chess set follows the Staunton design to a T.

Go back to history. The Queen used to be the Vizier that moves 1 square diagonally.

The King is the Commander in Chief (President). The Queen is the Vice-President.
Actually, the predecessor of the Vizier is Mantri or the Prime Minister. Chess's origin as Chaturanga during ancient India had pieces which were far less powerful, the bishop was originally an elephant corps which could jump over pieces but can move only two sqaures diagonally.

You are correct.

I am aware of the language I use. I use an Arabic word as the closest living descendant.

The villain Jafar is a Vizier in the Disney movie Aladdin.

I know that too.

In Chinese chess the Elephant still moves 2 squares diagonally.

I play Chinese chess too. Where the, excuse me, "Vizier" moves 1 square diagonally and the Elephant moves 2 squares diagonally.

The word "chess" itself comes form the word "shah", king, as in The Shah of Iran, Arabic word.

I'm sorry India, you are too old.

Don't worry India.

Just as Chinese chess remembers you, Chinese gods remembers you. Chinese gods are Indian gods.

1:40 Brahma.

2:15 Shiva

8:00 Avalokiteśvara

A perfect time for a musical interlude.

Since we are talking old and new chess sets.

Typical pantented American ignorance. Chess was called Chaturanga or four divisions of the armies of ancient India. You can also work better on your respostes which are tedious and silly.

Just as Chinese chess remembers you,

I'm Vietnamese-American.

The Vietnamese language is 50% Chinese as English is 50% French.

I play both chess.

I'm the inheritor of both sides of the world.

And everybody knows the source is India, in chess, and everything else.

1. You are ignorant.

2. I play Chinese chess. I play a chess where the Elephant moves 2 squares diagonally.

3. In English, we have a descendant of the word "chatur", "quarter".

4. Know yourself, and know your opponent and you will always win. - paraphrase. Sun Tzu, the Art of War.

Do you play a form of chess where the Elephant moves 2 squares diagonally?

And Americans are not young and stupid.
