Isn't it more important to have the script and THEN make the game? No good having lots of dialogue for the king's bishop if it exchanges on move 4.
Chess Play

What I'm saying is, you can't give dialogue to a captured piece.
As a result, pieces can only get captured at a certain point.
Isn't it more important to have the script and THEN make the game? No good having lots of dialogue for the king's bishop if it exchanges on move 4.
Or perhaps the script's dialogue can be based around the game that is found to meet his criteria.
Like a game involving the queen's gambit accepted.
c pawn: "goodbye cruel world!"

I'm not quite sure what you're saying.
The script is based on the game. The dialogue is essentially filler. I just want to know my options. :)
Also: I made an error in my OP; the B7 Pawn is the one that will be promoted. I will edit that to clear up future confusion.

Yes, exactly. :)
You catch my vibe.

Seems to me the best storyline for this play would be written before the game is developed. Of course, this is only my opinion!
:O
Cool. :)
However, would I be able to get one that has the B7 Pawn as the one that gets promoted?
We also need an En Passant.
Great Job!
(*chuckle*...Chuck Norris...)

Also: As Comedy Relief, I could also make some of the Pieces leave the game; "Going on Strike".

The Dialogue is mostly responsive and adaptive to the moves.

Fair enough, however you want to do it, it's your play after all!
Out of interest, how does the line for en passant go?

I'm not quite sure.
This play is based after the learning chess set, "Once A Pawn A Time", which is instructional. Even though my play sets a terrible example for how to actually play chess, I would like to make up for it by utilizing actual chess techniques.
______
The line for "En Passant" would, if it was the White capturing, be something like:
"By holy dictation of the ancient decrees set forth by our ancestors, I draw upon section #273, whereby it states that the side that coincides with the righteous cause of justice, when faced with hastiness of the unjust, verilly has the right to capture them with the divine wrath of fire and Brimstone!" *Pawn preforms En Passant*
If it was Black Capturing, I'd make a Megamind reference, with the witty banter of "trapping justice", and would go on to patronize White about how superior in intelligence I am (I am casted as the black king), and explain En Passant.
______
The Dialogue will conform to whatever set of moves I finally use. There needs to be an advancing plot and character development; each moive has more meaning than "just a move in the game"; there is politics, religion, frictional personalities, rivalries, conspiracies, and forshadowing.

Quite hard to achieve when you're trying to make the game as short as possible!
But I wish you luck.

Exactly. :(
Which is why I'm out of my league; I need help from people who are more experienced than I.

xD
That's hilarious. :)
You sir, are thanked many a time.
I will be tweaking it a bit, but I couldn't have done it without you. :)
If anyone else has any suggestions, please feel free to post them!
You can add your own ideas to my play; I will be sure to thank this forum in my playbill. :D
WHAT I AM DOING:
I am writing a Life-Sized chess play, in which all the characters are pieces, and there is even a storyline.
Most of the Actors are kids; so it can't be too long. There will be dialogue in between most moves as well, so that's another reason to keep it short.
The game will end with the B7 Pawn making it to the opposite side of the board, and crowning himself the king of both sides, ending the game (storyline: both sides used to be one kingdom). Yes, I know that's not a legal move, but this is a play, with a realistic storyline.
WHAT I NEED:
A Chess game that:
1.) Includes "En Passant"
2.) Includes "Castling"
3.) Ends with a "Promoted Pawn"
4.) Is As Short As Possible
Any help would be greatly appreciated; we are preforming June 7th, and are only rehearsing twice a week.
Thanks in advance! :)
