Chess program.

Hello, Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get a chess program on a disc which I can put into a computer. I played a little bit of chess many years ago and used to have a chess computer which I no longer have. There is a chess club about 25 miles away from me but as I am well over 80 travel is a problem. I class myself as a beginner so would not need anything too sophisticated.

Try Google, I'm suggesting that because then you should be able to see what's available and what kind of price you'll pay, you might be able to find a special offer by looking at various websites and pick the programme that suits your needs.

Oops, I really dislike predictive text. That should have been program not programme.

Hmm, there are free chess programs that you can download from the internet and install on your PC. Would that idea work? A couple of decent freeware programs are Lucas Chess and PyChess. I think they're both for either Windows or Linux. Just don't tell me you're in the Apple world...
