I'm in my 60s, with deteriorating eyesight. I doubt that I could beat your cat at Blitz.
Sorry to hear that. Do you or did you at one point have a USCF or FIDE rating?

Thirty-odd years ago I was rated a bit over 2000 CFC (Chess Federation of Canada). Our ratings were probably somewhat depressed because of the limited playing pool... we could only take points from each other.
I played Tal in a simul in 1988 in Saint John, and drew. I was (once again) Black in a Sicilian Najdorf... one of my Najdorfs is in the "What is your best game ever?" thread in this forum.

That is a really impressive result, you must have many chess stories to tell those who will listen...
What is your equivalent FIDE rating though? I have no official ratings but I believe I am about 2100 elo.
@blueemu If you are a bad player, then I absolutely suck at chess...
You my friend are invincible to someone like me. Just out of curiousity, do you have a USCF or FIDE?

sorry I posted right after you lol

Me? I'm really not sure. None of the OTB tournaments I played in were FIDE rated, as far as I know.

It's very curious to me that you are about 300 points higher then me in blitz, about 450 points higher in rapid, and an entire 700 points higher in ELO. I'm starting to think I might be underrated...
Chess.com's ratings are usually lower than FIDE ratings. I have a friend @b2b1N who has 2150 FIDE rating but his ratings on chess.com are about the same as me...
I haven't played in a rated tournament in a while, maybe I could climb the rating ladder in that case. If FIDE ratings are higher then chess.com then I could even achieve a 1600 maybe.

Too Low Bro!! Think high!
I think it is better to say "I have no official ratings but I believe I am about 3100 elo."
Chess rating is a scam wholeheartedly propagated by the owners of this site who wants you to get hooked on it and play constantly. That is why they give you artificially low rating (close to 1200) where you may think that you are average and you work desperately to improve it. It is not possible however because the pyramid is crafted so skillfully and artificially (top 1% comprise 50% of the rating curve, non-Gaussian distribution). Even some of the smartest people out there with which I had honour and pleasure to play will never improve their mediocre rating. It is ridiculous scam that best players have twice as much points as you. Are they so much smarter? I don't think so! Again, it is all scam. Stop playing it, you will never improve your rating, you will just waste time here to the pleasure of the site owners.
I thought until today that that kind of point of view belonged to poker sites exclusively.
Sorry but you'll have to understand that you're simply not as good as you think, whence the "low" rating.
The rating here doesn't relate to OTB no matter how much stupid pointless analysis from idiots who say it's the "same" or "close". it's not. I'm 1500 here, and beat a FIDE master rather easily in real life. Don't sweat it.
Well, crap... I must be a super-GM in real life!
At least, for players who start with a high rating and don't play enough games, chess.com should lower their rating with time.
I am a chess lover but I am thoroughly disappointed at how the owners fails you by hook or by crook, in a five min game the servrer on their end eats up your precious seconds, but it was confirmed when in a a one minute game they stops the result when you are in winning position you lose the game when your connection is excellent, it simply makes your opponent wins by showing your status as game abandoned, from 900 ratings they pushed me into 500 ratings. They are cheats, i am playing for free and it is the reason why they are forcing me to buy their membership, i wanted to but their hypocrisy made me to think otherwise I am a player who does not want to be taught anything I plays for fun but they start failing you through unfair means, they should be thankful for all those players who have created a festivity in their site by playing. they should be grateful for this traffic.
