Chess rating suddenly increased

Hello,

My chess rating suddenly increased from 1436 to 1557. I think it is due to some glitch. How to fix it. My games archive is https://apps.facebook.com/chessfb/members/view/akshay_sabnis94

Kindly advice.

Regards

Akshay

I have the same glitch, or something similar, my current live standard rating is higher than my highest rating.

SocialPanda

Yes, I have seen more people with increased live standard rating.

There´s nothing to do or to worry about, if everybody got it increased it doesn´t matter in order to getting paired.

Just happened to me today, mine went from 1823 to 1623. Needs to be fixed.

Yes as much as I should enjoy having 150 extra points I'm actually a bit annoyed. I'd rather have the rating I worked for.

why has this happened?

don't worry - couple of games an it'll change. too wrapped up with your rating. just a number. enjoy the game, forget the numbers.

finding the right move in your position is what it's all about.

Mine changed also by 100+ points.  I presume they have changed the formula for calculating ratings when they were working on the site but im not sure

Hello all! The standard rating pool has been deflated at the high-end scale for quite some time on Chess.com now (FMs were only 1600-1800 in rating, and the highest possible was around 2100), these rating changes were an attempt to remedy that and get the rating pool back to a more reasonable scale.

Unfortunately there's been a bug where a few players are losing points, if this has happened please either send me a message or send it in to support (https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/emails/new) and your rating will be set to what it would have been after our ratings boost.

Thanks for your understanding and apologies for the confusion.

They said that the ratings on chess.com were artificially low and they adjusted the standard ratings based on several factors.  I always made the arguement that ratings on chess.com were lower than what they should be but many disagreed with me.  I guess I may have been correct.

"They said" and "Staff responded" ... any link?

Some people lost rating. Some got 400-500 pts. Some lost points. Some are unchanged.

Dear Akshay;   We apologize for not informing you earlier, but you have won the Massachusette's State Lottery.  Your rating will continue to increase for the entire month of Oct, as long as you send us complete drum sets, (along with Zildjian cymbals).

Hey, guys!  The rating increases in standard are not in error.

http://www.chess.com/forum/view/livechess/standard-ratings-boost?page=1

This is occuring for every player, so the level of your opponents will not increase.  We are doing this because we had a deflation issue with standard ratings (and only the standard).  With the increased rating, your score is more accurately reflected when compared with the rest of the site.  I don't know about you, but playing a 1750 NM just doesn't make sense to me :D

There were also some very steep climbs because the rating pool was "squished" so the new rating pool should more accurately reflect your skill increases.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to drop us a line:

My standard rating changed to 2009 from 1709! My Blitz rating at 1551, can this boost in rating be justified?
